Welcome to members of the news media, both local and national! The Media Team is here to help you cover the International Foundation for Gender Education 2008 conference as best we can.
You are welcome to attend the conference, but we ask that you check in with us first at the registration desk and the media table. There will be at least one member of the Media Team on duty at the conference to assist you, but you can email or telephone in advance to schedule your attendance; it would help us a lot.
We can assist you in finding people to interview, scheduling meetings with our presenters, locating topics that would be of interest to your audience, and navigating the wonderful diversity that can be found in the transgender community.
If you have not covered the transgender community before, we strongly recommend that you read the Media Reference Guide published by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. The transgender glossary of terms provides definitions for many of the terms commonly used within the transgender community.
Important Note: Some of our attendees, for various reasons, may not be willing to speak to members of the news media or to have their pictures taken. Please respect this, and always ask first; members of the press who do not abide by this will be asked to leave.
